Eddie Gilfoyle

Absolutely brilliant news for Eddie - long overdue but one significant fact is that it took an investigative journalist, in this case Dominic Kennedy of The Times, to uncover evidence that Eddie has ALWAYS insisted was there. Ed has had 3 different solicitors and the CCRC HAS LOOKED AT HIS CASE TWICE!!! It is not acceptable that the very body which examines possible Miscarriages of Justice neglected to discover this vital information and ensure Eddie's case went back to appeal long before now!!! Ed knows I wish him well and hopefully he will very soon be released.

Hi Susan,

Is it possible that part of your post is missing?

The two cases - yours and Eddie's - are so similar ("lost" notes, things the jury were never told, etc.) that whatever works out to help Eddie Gilfoyle must also be of help to you too, Susan.

An old African proverb says: '...when the dry grass catches fire, it will eventually set fire to the wet grass'.

Thanks Susan, I've just read this on Times online. Amazing.
Do we know where these notes were discovered?
I wonder how long it will take the wheels to grind before Eddie's conviction is overturned?

Great news and also a shame that this comes at the end of his 17 year sentence, if I understand correctly. However, it is effectively a lifetime sentence if he's not vindicated, as I understand from your case, Susan.

Is it only because the Times got hold of this that the police were forced to admit the existence of these notes? Justice eventually catches up on everybody and let's hope innocence does as well.

Why does it take so long for justice to be done. My friend Chris Nudds is serving 30 years for a crime he did not commit.

I work daily on his case to get it accepted by the CCRC.
Good luck, Eddie, I hope your release comes soon.
